Lloyd L. Johansen, 82, of Mission Hill, SD, died Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at his home.
Funeral Mass will be 1:30 pm Saturday, September 19th, at St. Columba Catholic Church in Mayfield, rural Irene, SD. Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery.
Visitation with family present will begin at 6:00 pm Friday, September 18th, with a rosary beginning at 7:30 pm followed by a scripture service at 8:00 pm at St Columba Catholic Church.
Lloyd was born October 16, 1948. He married Celestine Healy at St. Columba Catholic Church. They farmed in Yankton County until 1965. Lloyd worked at Mount Marty College in the maintenance department until 1987, when he developed rheumatoid arthritis and had to take early retirement.
Lloyd was an exceptional pool player and enjoyed being on a pool league for many years. He loved to tell the latest jokes he had heard and always enjoyed a good laugh. Lloyd took pride in his small engine repair.
Survivors include three daughters; Jean LaBore, Cedar Rapids, IA, Nancy (Leo) Nielson, rural Volin, SD, Mary Johansen, Brandon, SD, two sons; Darrel Johansen Kansas City, MO and Charles Johansen, Mission Hill, SD, also 16 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Alice Johansen, and one sister Doris Gean Rubio.
