Clara Berg, 93, of Irene, passed away Friday, July 24, 2009 at her home with her family at her side.

     Clara was born April 18, 1916 to John and Elizabeth (Ness) Johnson.  She graduated from Vermillion High School.  She married Joseph Berg August 26, 1934 and raised a family of 5 children on the farm south of Viborg, SD.  Clara later became a Nurses Aide working at Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford for 24 years and Sunset Manor Nursing Home for 5 years.  Clara took a great deal of pride in her work, as she truly loved her chosen profession.

     Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Berg, three sons, one daughter, one granddaughter and one grandson.

     Survivors include one daughter Karen Berg, of Woodland Calif., two grandsons, three granddaughters, one great-granddaughter, two great-grandsons, one sister, Ethel Krommenhoek, of Sioux City, IA., and many friends.

     Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at the Hansen Funeral Home in Irene.  Burial will follow in the Hovde Cemetery, rural Centerville, SD.

     Visitation will begin one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.
