Richard Dale Sorensen, 92, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Viborg, SD.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday, June 22, 2009 at Turkey Valley Baptist Church rural Irene, SD. Burial will follow in the Turkey Valley Baptist Cemetery.
Visitation will begin one hour prior to the services on Monday, June 22nd.
Richard Dale Sorensen was born August 28, 1916, on a farm at Talmo, SD to Jens and Christine (Meyer) Sorensen. He spent his childhood at the Talmo farm, and later at the Maple Grove Farm north of Irene. He married Luella Evelyn Petersen of rural Viborg on December 9, 1937. They farmed near Irene and later near Wakonda until 1971. They owned and operated Sorensen's Hardware in Irene from 1971 until retiring in 1987. They were active members of Turkey Valley Baptist Church and members of Glenridge Golf Course. In 1957 he became a member of the Masonic Delta Lodge. He enjoyed playing cards.
He was preceded in death by his wife, brothers, sisters & parents. He is survived by numerous nieces & nephews.
