(One of the group's co-founders)
A former Iowan who graduated from Dakota State, Mark has taught in Salem, South Dakota's High School system for over 25 years.  Bringing with him formal training in the area of vocal music, he arranges vocal parts and sings a good portion of the leads that require a smooth, clear voice.  In addition to singing, Mark plays bass guitar and handles some of the bookings.  He has played and toured in various groups since age 14.

(One of the group's co-founders)
Co-owner of the AutoEx Truck & Car dealership in Salem, SD, John is really a true student of Rock & Roll.  His desires include performing live music that sounds like the record, adding the technology of today, playing hard, and keeping the crowd wanting more!  John, who plays lead guitar, shares solo singing duty with Mark and Randy. Although John began his formal music education at age 6 under the direction of the Catholic sisters in Salem, he still continues with regular college-level voice training.  John's crisp, razor-sharp falsetto allows the group to reproduce numbers from the Four Seasons, The Beach Boys, Lou Christie, and more!

A native of Waubay, South Dakota, Helen earned a music degree from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  She plays keyboards for the group and assists in singing many of the lead vocals.  Her ability to add intricate keyboard parts and vocal harmony lines is perhaps unmatched in the region.  Before finding her niche with "Something New," she performed with various groups across the Dakotas and Minnesota.  Helen's bright smile and talent enhance any setting.

Eric, who hails from Omaha, Nebraska, graduated from Augustana College with a degree in music.  Eric has literally traveled around the world performing with Del Shannon, Lou Christie, Chuck Berry,  and others.  Eric also commands a vast knowledge of sound equipment and the delivery of a program to the audience.  Eric's personality and ability to perform on-stage earn respect from everyone he meets.  Like the rock & roll beat he provides, Eric LeVan is here to stay!

Randy, a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, moved to South Dakota nearly 20 years ago.  Having fronted and managed groups in the Twin Cities area as well as the Black Hills region for over 16 years, Randy is familiar with many aspects of the music field.  His vast stage experience includes doing productions for such major performers as Kiss, Janet Jackson, Bryan Adams, and Garth Brooks.  Randy's incredible voice and years of stage experience, mixed with the desire to perform, make him an asset that "Something New" is proud to showcase!
